Full-Time Corporate Associate

Lawson Lundell LLP –  Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

Job Description

Corporate Associate
1-4 year call
Yellowknife, NT

Lawson Lundell LLP is a leading full-service business law firm with offices in Yellowknife, Vancouver, Kelowna and Calgary, known for its practical and strategic approach to legal and business problems. Our firm and lawyers have received national and international recognition in numerous legal directories and publications.

We are seeking a keen, hands-on solicitor to join our Yellowknife office.

Our Yellowknife office is one of the largest law firms in the Northwest Territories known for its leading expertise in Northern Canada (Chambers Canada), and being the top firm in General Business Law: Northern Canada and Arctic since 2017 (Chambers Canada).

The office is an integral part of this vibrant, close-knit northern community, and it offers a small-firm, collegial environment within the context of the resources of a large, Western Canadian regional firm active in the North.

You will receive dedicated mentorship from senior lawyers and will be supported to build
connections with lawyers from the firm’s other offices. You will also enjoy a large degree of responsibility and independence in this general corporate and commercial practice.

The work includes corporate organizations and governance, commercial transactions, private mergers and acquisitions, bank financing, commercial real estate and mining law. The position offers practical, but challenging work with clients throughout the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, as well as the opportunity to tailor the practice to suit your interests.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience dealing with a variety of corporate matters, but your year of call is less important than your desire to join a thriving firm in the North.

We are willing to train a more junior solicitor, but the position would also suit someone with mid-level experience. Enjoyment of business development activities and a proven record of community involvement would be strong assets for this role.

How to Apply

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their application to Jennifer Vermiere, Director of Professional Development at jvermiere@lawsonlundell.com.
