Tender NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
Pine Point Mine Project-EA2021-01
Pine Point Mining ltd.
NOTICE: The Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board is using
its authority under the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act to order an
environmental assessment of the Pine Point Mine Project.
REASONS: Factors in the Review Board’s decision include:
• the project is a large-scale industrial mine development
• the area is traditionally used by local Indigenous communities and residents
of the town of Hay River
• the project overlaps the location of the historic Pine Point Mine which has
not been fully reclaimed
• the potential impacts of this Project may combine cumulatively with past,
present, and future activities in the area

mine with a 10-15 year mine life. About 60 deposits will be mined along the

be constructed at the former Cominco site. Zinc and lead concentrate will be
trucked to the railhead near Hay River.
DEVELOPER: Pine Point Mining Limited.
LOCATION: The project is 42 km east of Hay River, 53 km southwest of Fort
