Full-Time Career Development Officer
Job Description
Sakku Investments Corporation, in Rankin Inlet, has an opening for a Career Development Officer (CDO). Reporting to the Training and Employment Coordinator, the CDO will assist in developing and delivering client centred programs and services including career counselling; gathering and compiling resumés of job seekers, Apprenticeship training and support; and the development, and implementation of a Kivalliq Employment Action Plan among other responsibilities. Through their work, the CDO will participate in building and maintaining relationships with Sakku’s group of companies, business partners, and affiliated companies to optimize training and employment opportunities for Kivalliq Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
Requirements:
• diploma or certificate in Career Development, Human Resource Management or Management Studies and two years experience in Career Development or adult training. Equivalencies in combined education and experience will be considered
• demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
• demonstrated ability in preparing and delivering Power Point presentations for clients, Sakku Executive and other stakeholders
• strong and demonstrated desire to help the Inuit of the Kivalliq region to build capacity, receive training, and find gainful employment
• ability to speak and write in Inuktitut would be a definite asset
• Starting salary is $75,000 per annum (commensurate with experience) with a northern allowance of $8,000, a housing allowance of $16,000 (based on eligibility), and a benefits package that includes an employee pension plan, group insurance, and vacation travel assistance
