GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) COORDINATOR
Behchokǫ̀, NT
The Tlicho Government is the steward of the lands within the Tlicho designated areas. The Tlicho people have strong cultural ties to the land, and ensuring responsible and sustainable environmental management is of utmost importance.
The GIS Coordinator is accountable for gathering information and data, mapping and reporting on land and resource use activities on Tlicho designated lands. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing reports on GIS information, providing technical support and training to GIS users, and maintaining the GIS database system.
The successful applicant will have a diploma or degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Integrated Planning Technology or equivalent combined with:
- experience analyzing spatial data
- the ability to prepare GIS reports and thematic maps
- strong organizational and time management skills
- strong understanding of land and resource management
- familiarity with land and resource management mapping systems
