Job Description
Jean Marie River First Nation is seeking a
PUBLIC WORKS FOREMAN
The Public Works Foreman is responsible for the management, administration and delivery of all public works services, such as water, sewer, solid waste, and for the maintenance of all facilities and infrastructure in order to ensure they are accessible, in good operating condition and safe.
The Public Works Foreman will oversee staff ensuring that all decisions and actions comply with relevant legislation and policies and are within approved operating budgets.
The Public Works Foreman is responsible for managing and overseeing contractors, construction projects and any staff required to complete projects or repairs.
The failure to provide adequate maintenance activities will have an impact on the quality of life for residents and effect the useful life of band assets and infrastructure.
Qualifications:
1. Journeyman Trade Certificate or Equivalent
2. A minimum five years’ experience in construction, municipal maintenance and heavy equipment operation
3. Computer and internet skills
4. Skills in supervision and team leadership, contract management, negotiation, and decision-making skills
5. Effective communications and public relations
6. Ability to maintain records and ensure safety and maintenance programs are followed
7. Valid Class 5 Drivers License
8. Heavy Equipment Certificate
9. Criminal Record Check Required
