The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) is seeking a Benefits Agreement Coordinator. This exciting, challenging employment opportunity is based in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Working alongside the Director of Social and Cultural Development.

As a member of KIA’s Social & Cultural Development team, the Benefits Agreement Coordinator is responsible for secretarial duties for the Aituuti Katimayiit; collecting, reviewing, administering Inuit Initiatives Fund/Scholarships/Graduation award applications; Administering the Bereavement and Compassionate Travel Program; and Administering the Records Suspension Program.

KIA’s vision is to be an effective organization that manages lands and resources to support Traditional and Cultural Values and Provide Economic and Social Benefits to Kitikmeot Inuit. Through administering these services, the Benefits Agreement Coordinator advances efforts that see Kitikmeot Inuit having access to support that encourages Inuit to use their language in daily life, retain their unique culture, and live in healthy, happy communities.

The Benefits Agreement Coordinator will contribute to the achievement of the KIA’s vision in a variety of ways. Including:

  • secretarial role in supporting the Aituuti Katimayiit
  • tracking, Monitoring, and Reporting KIAs agreement commitments
  • assisting Beneficiaries to fill out and complete applications
  • accepting, reviewing, and administering Scholarships, Graduation Awards, Applications
  • administering Records Suspension Program
  • administering Bereavement and Compassionate Travel Program
  • monitoring the effectiveness of funded programming
  • occasional Travel in the Region
  • directly communicating with and supporting Kitikmeot Beneficiaries

Knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are usually obtained through completion of a College or University diploma program such as a Management Studies or Nunavut Sivuniksavut with 1-2 years of progressive experience in a related financial field and have strong oral and written communication skills. Equivalencies may be considered. The ability to communicate in Inuktut is a definite asset.

The starting salary for the position ranges from $69,877.00 – $88,553.00 plus a northern allowance of $19,800.00, and Vacation Travel Assistance package, and other employment benefits. Housing may be available.

Priority will be given to Inuit beneficiaries who meet the qualifications for the job as specified under Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement.
