Northwest Territories Power Corporation (“NTPC”) is a wholly owned subsidiary of NT Hydro, which in turn is owned 100 percent by the Government of the Northwest Territories. NTPC distributes electricity to end-use consumers in 26 of the 33 communities in the NWT and supplies electricity on a wholesale basis to two distributing
utilities. NTPC’s facilities include hydroelectric, diesel, and LNG (liquefied natural gas) generation plants, transmission systems and numerous isolated electrical distribution systems. NTPC also owns and operates alternative energy assets used for the supply of residual heat, solar power and co-generation.
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation is currently seeking a Chief Projects and Engineering Officer (“CPEO”) to direct the Engineering and Projects division to ensure the Corporation’s mission for safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly operations are met through the management of NTPC’s engineering and project activities.
The CPEO actively participates in the development, implementation and achievement of corporate goals and objectives with a focus on the Engineering and Projects division’s key metrics of safety, environment, project (CPI, SPI, SPIt) and systems design for reliability, reduced $/kWh, and reduced GHG.
As the successful candidate, you will have an engineering degree or technologist diploma, experience delivering both greenfield and brownfield projects with 15 years’ experience managing a large portfolio of capital projects, and a minimum of 10 years of proven progressively responsible supervisory and management experience. You will
have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to motivate and direct subordinates coupled with considerable administrative and managerial experience, preferably in the utility field supplemented by financial management experience in a business setting.
This position is based in Hay River. Hay River is located on the south shore of Great Slave Lake. Hay River has the best beach in the North, great fishing and is in close proximity to stunning waterfalls. Visit
