Communications Officer
Yellowknife, NT
The Wek’èezhìı Renewable Resources Board and Wek’èezhìı Land & Water Board, established through the Tåîchô Agreement, have authority for wildlife, plant, and forest management and land and water regulation in the Wek’èezhìı Region of the Northwest Territories.
The Communications Officer will provide support to the Boards to develop and maintain effective communications and relationships with Tåîchô communities and organizations. The Communications Officer will provide support and information on renewable resource management and land and water regulation issues to Tåîchô communities. Flexible working hours, including evenings, holidays and weekends, are required. This position requires frequent travel, including by small aircraft, to all communities within the Wek’èezhìı Region.
The Communications Officer will have a relevant degree combined with:
• excellent written and verbal communications skills;
• experience making presentations and facilitating meetings to a wide range of audiences;
• experience developing and implementing communications strategies, programs and materials using a wide range of media including social media; and
• demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Experience working with northern communities; renewable resources training; and the ability to speak the Tåîchô language are considered assets for the position.
The starting salary for this position is $85,000.00 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package.
