The Hamlet of Gjoa Haven is Recruiting a Community Economic Development Officer
There are exciting opportunities for Gjoa Haven’s economic growth in the areas of tourism, fisheries development, carver and other arts programs, hospitality and construction/contracting. The Hamlet wishes to employ a motivated individual with skills and experience in the areas of office administration, proposal writing and project management, to lead Economic Development initiatives in the community.
Duties include:
• Facilitating community and economic development planning
• Researching and providing recommendations to the Community Economic Development Committee on local opportunities
• Assessing the results of economic development studies and agreements and making recommendations.
• Promoting community and business opportunities
• Community relations
• Writing proposals/seeking funding and building partnerships for initiatives in the community that support local employment.
The wages for this position are dependent on skills, training, and experience and range from $34.31 per hour to $41.74 per hour. The position is eligible for Northern Settlement Allowance and other Hamlet benefits.
