Full-Time Director of Finance
Job Description
The Municipality of Baker Lake, Nunavut, is located 320 km inland from Hudson Bay and is notable for being Nunavut’s sole inland Community. We have an immediate opening for a Director of Finance. Reporting to the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) you will assume responsibility for the effective and efficient administration of the overall financial management for the Municipality, including the supervision, planning, and organizing the direction of the Finance Department. Specifically, you will provide regular advice, guidance and direction on financial affairs to the SAO and the Municipal Council.
Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business with a minimum five (5) years related experience in senior management roles within a municipal setting. Strong leadership skills are required. The incumbent must be detail-oriented, able to multitask and able to uphold and maintain strict confidentiality.
Equivalences that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. A professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) including experience working with SAGE 300 is considered an asset.
