The Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk is seeking an individual to fulfill the position of the
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
The Economic Development Officer is responsible for the effective delivery of business programs and services in all sectors, including: business, renewable resources, arts, crafts and tourism, with a mandate aimed at developing and sustaining a healthy business community in Tuktoyaktuk.
You will provide:
• technical skills and financial resources in accordance with federal and territorial legislation and GNWT policies and procedures to achieve departmental and regional goals for the growth and development of the business communities within the community of Tuktoyaktuk
• advice and assistance in areas of business operations, marketing, accounting and finance and tourism, to any existing businesses within the community and to businesses considering new opportunities into our community. This can have a direct impact on the financial viability and future success of their ventures
Qualification requirements include: the successful completion of post-secondary education in a related discipline (economics, business administration, accounting, finance or marketing) with 3-5 years related experience in a business, community development, finance or commercial lending environment. Equivalencies may be considered.
Salary and benefits will be based upon funding availability plus an annual Northern allowance. This term position will expire on March 31st, 2022.
