EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dehcho First Nations (DFN) is seeking an energetic and progressive Executive Director who reports to the Grand Chief and is responsible for carrying out all the administrative duties for DFN. This position manages and directs the day-to-day activities of DFN and ensures DFN is meeting its mandate. The Executive Director assists in short and long-term strategic planning with the intent to assist DFN achieve defined goals, objectives and project completions. The position is also responsible for effective liaison on behalf of the Grand Chief and Leadership with officials of Federal, Territorial, Indigenous Governments and other agencies in support of DFNs goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field plus five years administrative experience in a Dene organization:
- a) Financial management experience of budgets 5 million plus
b) Three years project management and coordination experience
c) Knowledge of current Indigenous political challenges
d) Knowledge of human resources and experience in supervising staff
e) Knowledgeable in Crown-First Nations relationship - Exceptional written and communication skills
- Ability to confidently make sound decisions
- Must be bondable
- Ability to speak Dene Zhatie an asset
- Must be knowledgeable of both western and Indigenous world views
- Valid driver’s licence
- a) Financial management experience of budgets 5 million plus
