Yellowknife Education District No. 1 invites applications for the following position:
FINANCE/PAYROLL OFFICER
This position will be responsible for processing monthly payrolls for the district. Main duties include processing all payroll duties for employees of two collective agreements and excluded contract staff. Finance Officer duties include Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable/Account Reconciliations/Financial Reporting/Year End working paper preparation/Financial Accounting/Training of staff and responding to employee inquiries. This is a very busy position that has many deadlines. This position is required to work a minimum of 7.5 hours per day and will be required to work up to 12 hours per day and on weekends occasionally to ensure deadlines are met.
The ideal candidate will possess the following education and qualifications:
• High School Diploma, and a Degree or Diploma in Business Administration preferable with a major in Accounting and enrolment in the CPA program
• minimum of two years’ experience processing a full cycle of payroll/financial accounting and year audits
• the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
• the ability to communicate effectively written and orally
