Job Description
GENERAL MANAGER
Kitikmeot Foods Ltd. Is a Federally registered facility which processes Arctic Char primary and value-added products. The company is located in Cambridge Bay and is jointly owned by the Nunavut Development Corporation, a crown corporation of the Government of Nunavut and the Ikaluktutiak Coop, a local member-owned cooperative.
Kitikmeot Foods employs 6 full-time staff and up to 15 seasonal fishers.
Reporting directly to the Kitikmeot Foods Board of Directors and Business Advisor – Harvesting and Processing of NDC, the General Manager will oversee the daily activities of this business.
The incumbent will be self-motivated and have several years of management experience in fish/meat processing and plant operations. Areas of responsibility include planning and organizing the summer fishery; overseeing plant staff and operations; product development, sales, marketing and shipping; maintaining QMP and HACCP plans; maintaining financial records and reporting systems; and performing related duties as required by the Board of Directors. The General Manager will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work “hands-on” with production staff. Computer literacy and knowledge of Sage accounting software would be a definite asset.
The candidate must be willing to work in a cross-cultural environment and relocate to Cambridge Bay, a community of approximately 1800. Staff housing is available. Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
