Full-Time Heavy Duty Mechanic
Job Description
The Hamlet of Whale Cove, a community of 475 on the west coast of the Hudson Bay, seeks the services of a qualified heavy-duty mechanic.
Responsibilities:
• Maintenance, service and inspection of equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
• Determine the extent of any required repairs
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance
• In-depth knowledge of road construction heavy equipment and trucks such as backhoe, wheel loaders, dump trucks, graders, etc.
• Source and order parts and materials as required
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot construction equipment
• Able to perform complete repair and overhaul functions
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Maintenance of MMOS records
Key competencies:
• Must be physically fit
• Have the ability to cooperate and work effectively with others in a cross-cultural environment
• Valid Journeyman’s certificate
• 3-4 years experience
• Class three driver’s licence preferred
