Position: Heritage Manager

IHT is seeking a highly motivated and engaging individual to fill the role of a Heritage Manager.
The Heritage Manager is a vital supporting role within the Inuit Heritage Trust Incorporated (IHTI). This role will be responsible for the management and administration of the Archaeological Permits, which involves collaboration between the IHT Board, affected communities, the Government of Nunavut and Archaeologist. Other projects include, but are not limited to, providing support in the creation of the Nunavut Inuit Heritage Centre, helping promote and implement IHT’s new archaeology permit guidelines and the Elder Recognition Award, Archaeology Mentorship Program.
Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with IHT’s Archaeologist this position will build and maintains strong relationships with Nunavut communities. The duties will include reviewing archaeological permit applications, tracking permit report submissions, archiving old applications and reports, and acting as liaison between Nunavut communities and archaeologists. It also includes investigating archaeological site disturbances. This position will carry out program administration of the elder recognition awards and help facilitate archaeology outreach in Nunavut communities. This role will be required to travel within Nunavut and establish strong relationships with communities and community organizations.
The incumbent of this position must have excellent interpersonal and client service skills, along with strong communication skills. Fluency in both Inuktitut and English is required.
This position generally requires a post-secondary diploma such as a Bachelor of Arts. A combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered an acceptable equivalency.
Salary range is competitive and includes a Nunavut Northern Allowance. Housing is not available.
