Invitation for Public Submissions
Review of Nunavut’s Official Languages Act and the Inuit Language Protection Act
Section 37 of Nunavut’s Official Languages Act and section 43 of the Inuit Language Protection Act require that the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut conduct a review of the provisions and operations of the legislation.
The Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Legislation invites Nunavut residents and organizations to provide formal written submissions on the administration, implementation, effectiveness of provisions and achievement of objectives of Nunavut’s language legislation: the Official Languages Act and the Inuit Language Protection Act. Submitters may be invited to appear before the standing committee at televised hearings to be held between April 19-27, 2023.
