Kitchen Specialist (Cook)
Purpose
The Kitchen Specialist reports to the childcare facility administrator. The kitchen specialist has the authority to take the measures required to provide healthy meals and snacks for the childcare facility program. The kitchen specialist will also assist in decision making relating to food preparation and health and safety issues in his/her work area.
Major Areas of Responsibility
The overall goal of the Kitchen Specialist is to provide healthy meals and snacks for the children in their childcare facility program and to provide a safe and healthy work environment for food preparation.
Salary: $22.00/hr paid Bi-weekly
Requirements and Qualifications
The qualifications for this position include:
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Food safety certification
• Fluency in Slavey would be an asset.
• Awareness of nutrition and cooking/cleaning
• Strong commitment to the care and well-being of children
• Commitment to a healthy lifestyle
• Willing to work flexible hours and willing to take training pertinent to the position.
• Health Assessment, T.B. test, up-to-date immunization
