Full-Time LITIGATION ASSOCIATE
Job Description
LAWSON LUNDELL LLP
LITIGATION ASSOCIATE
3-5 year call
Yellowknife, NWT
Lawson Lundell LLP is a leading full-service business law firm with offices in Yellowknife, Vancouver, Kelowna and Calgary, known for its practical and strategic approach to legal and business problems. Our firm and lawyers have received national and international recognition in numerous legal directories and publications.
We are seeking a hands-on mid-level litigation associate. We have a broad litigation practice and you will be expected to work on Labour & Employment matters (including human rights issues and workplace investigations), general litigation matters (including construction disputes and administrative law issues) and child protection matters, for which occasional travel to Nunavut will be required. You will also be given the opportunity and support to develop your own interests.
Our Yellowknife office is one of the largest law firms in the Northwest Territories known for its leading expertise in Northern Canada (Chambers Canada), and being the top firm in General Business Law: Northern Canada and Arctic since 2017 (Chambers Canada). The office is an integral part of this vibrant, close-knit northern community, and it offers a small-firm, collegial environment within the context of the resources of a large, Western Canadian regional firm active in the North.
You will receive dedicated mentorship from senior lawyers and will be supported to build connections with lawyers from the firm’s other offices. You will also enjoy a large degree of responsibility and independence in this litigation practice. The position offers practical, but challenging work with clients throughout the Northwest Territories and
Nunavut, as well as the opportunity to tailor the practice to suit your interests.
The ideal candidate will be based in Yellowknife or have a strong desire and commitment to relocate there and join a thriving firm in the North. We are willing to train a more junior litigator, but the position would ideally suit someone with mid-level experience. Enjoyment of business development activities and a proven record of community
involvement would be strong assets for this role.
