Immediately requires a
MACHINIST
Location: Hay River Shipyard
Reports to: Manager, Shipyard and Marine
The successful candidate will be responsible for repairs, service and maintenance as required on a variety of marine associated equipment onboard vessels or in repair facilities.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- vessel refit and repair work and the machining & installation and fitting of propeller shafts, rudders, propellers or any associated equipment as required
- will be required to fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand/power tools and constructs or repairs components and parts to close tolerances
- able to read and interpret blueprints, charts and tables and study sample parts to determine machining to be performed
- ability to operate manual lathes & milling machine
- applicant will require knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and equipment to perform precision machining operations
Required education and experience:
- journeyman Machinist
- millwright ticket would be an asset
- a valid drivers license & a basic set of tools are required
