Job Description
NNSL Media publishes six award-winning newspapers, two websites and multiple social media channels, covering Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
We have an immediate opening for a
Permanent, Full-time
NEWS EDITOR
Reporting to the Coordinating Editor, the successful candidate will be responsible for editing stories for clarity, accuracy and above all readability.
On a daily basis, you will handle story assignments and the online posting of some breaking news.
On a weekly basis, you will be at the centre of newspaper production for Yellowknifer (published Wednesdays and Fridays) and News/North (published Mondays).
While you may not have editing experience in a newsroom, you must have solid reporting experience, comprehensive knowledge of CP Style and a good grasp of desktop layout using Adobe InDesign as well as Photoshop. Social media skills and familiarity of content management systems (WordPress) are required, as are a valid driver’s licence and a smartphone.
This position is based in Yellowknife and requires some evening and weekend work.
NNSL Media offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience, including dental, medical, pension and travel benefits. Relocation funding is also available.
Note: Individuals from outside the territory will be required to self-isolate and work remotely for two weeks upon arrival per public health orders.
