Project: Kwetı̨ı̨ɂaà (Rayrock) Remediation
Location: former Rayrock Mine, NT
Purpose: Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada – Contaminants and Remediation Division (CIRNAC-CARD) has submitted Type A Water Licence and Type A Land Use Permit Applications for the Rayrock Remediation Project (Miscellaneous – Remediation).

A public hearing will be held by the Board to fulfill section 72.15(2)(a) of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act (MVRMA) and section 41(2)(a) of the Waters Act on April 28 to 30, 2021. The hearing will be held at the Explorer Hotel, Yellowknife, NT and virtually in accordance with the Board’s Rules of Procedure. The Wek’èezhìi Land and Water Board is also working with the Tłįchǫ Government to set-up virtual hubs in the four Tłįchǫ Communities.

Written interventions for this public hearing must be submitted to the Board at the address below by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8th, 2021.

If no notice is received of persons indicating their intention to appear and make presentations concerning these applications, and the Applicant consents in writing to the disposition of these matters without a public hearing, the Board may cancel the hearing as per subsection 41(3) of the Waters Act and subsection 72.15(3) of the MVRMA.
