NOTICE OF REVISED PROCEDURE
AND PROCEEDING SCHEDULE
– DÌGA (WOLF) MANAGEMENT
On January 31, 2020, the WRRB received a joint management proposal, entitled “Joint Proposal on Management Actions for Wolves (dìga) on the Bathurst and Bluenose-East Barren-ground Caribou (Æekwö) Herd Winter Ranges: 2020 – 2025” (“the Proposal”), outlining proposed management actions for dìga in Wek’èezhìı. The Board opened the 2020 Wolf Management Proceeding on March 2, 2020 as a Level 2 review. On March 9, 2020, after hearing from Environment and Natural Resources, Government of the Northwest Territories (ENR-GNWT) and Tåîchô Government, the WRRB held an emergency meeting and revised the procedure to be used to review the Proposal.
The WRRB advises interested parties and the public of the following revised procedure and Proceeding Schedule. The WRRB has decided to amend its procedure for the review of the 2020 wolf management actions as proposed in the dìga joint management proposal to a Level 1 review. The Board has decided to treat the 2020 dìga management actions as a pilot project only, and, as such, has approved the proposed 2020 dìga management actions in the Proposal. The Board will, at a later date, continue with its review of the proposed 2021-2025 wolf management actions as a Level 2 proceeding. The Board expects to receive the information needed from Governments to allow for a more fulsome review later in 2020 in accordance with the schedule set out below.
The Board has requested that Tåîchô Government and ENR-GNWT resubmit the dìga management actions proposed for 2021-2025 in the Proposal for a Level 2 review with the inclusion of lessons learned from the implementation of the 2020 management actions in August 2020. Public participation in these WRRB proceedings is encouraged in accordance with the Board’s Rules.

How to Apply
Anyone interested in providing comment on the dìga joint management proposal may do so in writing through email or fax by October 13, 2020. Those interested in participating in the proceeding are asked to notify the WRRB in writing via email (info@wrrb.ca) by August 28, 2020.
