Nunavut Worker Representative – WSCC Governance Council (PART-TIME POSITION)
The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) Governance Council is seeking a Director who will bring the perspective of workers our organization. Having an understanding or qualifications in the areas that complement the skills and abilities of other Governance Council members is preferable. These areas include legislation, policy development, human resources and a familiarity with the workers’ compensation system. Previous board experience would be considered an asset, however it is not required.
The WSCC is strongly committed to equitable representation of communities and to recruiting a diverse membership for the Governance Council. The WSCC encourages applications from all qualified candidates including persons with disabilities, First Nations, Metis and Inuit persons, members of racialized communities and LGBTQ-identified persons.
To ensure the balance and diversity within the Governance Council, the WSCC is looking for a specific area of expertise and encourage expressions of interest from individuals who:
- Represent our stakeholders in Nunavut
- is considered a Young Worker (ages 20-25). As young workers are more at risk for incidents and injuries. The WSCC would like to establish a strong safety culture among this group in order to prevent workplace incidents.
