Full-Time Project Officer – Climate Change Focused

The position is based in Yellowknife, NWT, and requires a dynamic set of skills and knowledge. A strong understanding of climate change, both adaptation and mitigation and an understanding of the national, provincial/territorial politics related to climate change are considered strong assets. Managing projects with deliverables completed to a high quality within budget and on time is required for this position. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and computer skills. Knowledge of basic web design would be beneficial.
This position is for a project Officer, and will be part of a team that supports all EN project work. The primary responsibility will be in the Climate Change Program area. Work will include project planning, proposal writing, budgeting, program delivery and administration.
The Project Officer will be tasked with delivering existing projects and also with identifying new project opportunities that help to fulfill the goals of Ecology North’s Strategic Plan. There are opportunities for cross-disciplinary work in some of Ecology North’s other project areas: local food production, water stewardship, waste reduction and environmental education.
Central to the role is an interest in identifying new possibilities for projects and a willingness to lead them. If you like the idea of building your own job and taking responsibility for innovative projects, this position is for you.
