Temporary Project Officer (Short-Term)
Job Description
Ecology North is looking for a short-term project officer to start immediately. If you are a dynamic, and creative individual we want you to join our team on an immediate and short-term basis. The successful candidate will contribute to diverse environmental initiatives in the realms of climate change adaptation and mitigation, local food production, waste reduction, water stewardship and environmental education. The project officer needs to be a self-starter, motivated and highly productive. Skills in website design & maintenance, communications and graphic design will be considered a strong asset.
Project officers hold a very important position within Ecology North, as most of our work is related to specific and well-defined projects. The ideal candidate would be considered a generalist with broad knowledge, and passion for environmental issues. The project officer may be required to help out in all fields when needed.
This position requires creativity, innovation, independent thought, and also an understanding of media and promotion. Central to the role is an interest in identifying new possibilities for projects and a willingness to lead them. If you like the idea of building your own job and taking responsibility for innovative projects, this position is for you.
Managing projects, volunteers and budgets is key to successfully completing this job. Some Ecology North projects involve the use of InDesign, video and audio recordings. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and computer skills. Knowledge of basic web design would be beneficial, but not required. A solid grasp of regular programs like Word and Excel is required. The candidate must be proficient in basic social media use such as creating and promoting events on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
