Full-Time PROTECTIVE SERVICES SPECIALIST
Job Description
Under the direction of the Director of Protective Services, the incumbent is responsible for enforcing compliance with the Town of Hay River Bylaws. The incumbent will also participate in a full training program to be fully capable in the role of Protective Services Specialist (which will become a strong support and back-up position for the Director of Protective Services). The duties for this position include a combination of administrative work and time spent in the field keeping operations running efficiently in bylaw enforcement and fire and emergency medical services (EMS).
The required knowledge, skills and abilities and attitudes for this position would normally be attained through completion of a high school diploma plus up to two years of post-secondary education in law enforcement, bylaw enforcement, corrections training or a similar field. Two years of experience in a related field is also required. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s licence with the ability to upgrade to a Class 3 (with Air Endorsement) is also a requirement for this position. Successful candidate will be required to submit a up-to-date Driver’s Abstract. Firefighting and supervisory experience would be an asset to this position. Equivalencies will be considered. The Protective Service Specialist position works 37.5 hours per week on average and is on a Rotating Irregular Shift.
The wage for this position is $32.18 to $42.47 plus an annual housing allowance of $500.00 per month.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check prior to commencement of employment.
