PUBLIC NOTICE

ANNUAL MAILING OF THE GENERAL TAXATION AREA NOTICES OF ASSESSMENT

Public notice is provided that the 2023 General Taxation Area Notices of Assessment for use in 2024 property taxation were mailed on December 22, 2023.

1. This notice contains the same information about the property as is recorded in the Certified Assessment Roll, First Revision. The part of the assessment roll which refers to the community where this property is located may be inspected during business hours at the community office or at the offices of the Nunavut Property Assessment Office, Qikiqtaaluk Corporation, 200 – 5300 Qulliq Court, Iqaluit, Nunavut, X0A 2H0

2. Any person may make a complaint to the Board of Revision about the name of the assessed owner; an assessed value shown on the Certified Assessment Roll, First Revision, the property class that is assigned to assessed property, the taxable area assigned to Inuit Owned Land under subsection 4(3), whether anything that is assessed is exempt from assessment or is not liable to assessment, a clerical, typographical, administrative or other error on, or omission from, the Certified Assessment Roll, First Revision, or the Notice of Assessment.

3. If you have a concern with the data shown in this notice, please contact a property assessor prior to making a formal complaint, as many issues can be resolved without a formal hearing.

4. If you wish to complain, you must send a written notice to: Secretary of the Board of Revision, P.O. Box 272, Kugluktuk, Nunavut, X0B 0E0. Your written complaint must include your name, address, email address or telephone number (or both), the location of the property including either the legal description or Roll Number shown on the assessment roll or the front of this notice, your complaint and all the reasons for it (including all details), the remedy or direction sought (including all details), and if the remedy sought includes a lower assessed value, the exact assessed value sought.

5. Complaints sent or delivered, must be received by the Secretary of the Board of Revision, NOT LATER THAN 45 DAYS from December 22, 2023. All complainants will be notified where and when the Territorial Board of Revision will sit.
