Northwestel is decommissioning the last payphone in Kakisa, located at the Ka’a’gee Tu First Nation Band Office effective December 29, 2025.

After decommissioning, the nearest payphone will be located at the Big River Service Centre along the Yellowknife Highway near Fort Providence.

To find the Big River Service Centre payphone from Kakisa, Head east out of Kakisa for 12.9KM and then turn left onto the Mackenzie Highway (signs for Fort Simpson) and continue for 18.7KM. Finally, turn right onto the Yellowknife Highway and continue for 31.2KM, the Big River Service Centre will be on your left.
