Full-Time Regulatory Specialist

Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board –  Yellowknife, NT

Job Description

The Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board (MVLWB) is a regulatory authority that originates from Part 4 of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act (MVRMA). The roles and responsibilities of the MVLWB include reviewing and making decisions on transboundary projects; ensuring consistent application of the MVRMA up and down the Mackenzie Valley; and reviewing and making decisions on applications filed in the regions where land claims have not been settled.

Job description

As a Regulatory Specialist, you will:

• process Water Licence and Land Use Permit applications made to the Board

• liaise with proponents, government, industry, Indigenous governments and stakeholders

• manage the regulatory process for Permits and Licences once issued

• prepare and present recommendations to the Board

Compensation

• salary ranges from $103,711 to $132,205

• northern living allowance of up to $26,000 per year

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with these qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or equivalent programs and experience

• knowledge of northern Indigenous culture and way of life

• experience in northern regulatory environment
